Description

Elegant and beautiful edition of the “Libro del Caballero Cifar” (or also Zifar, among many other names as this work is known), made in 2014 by the José Antonio de Castro Foundation for its collection of books “Library Castro”.

This anonymous work of Spanish literature from the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries is considered the first of the chivalric novels and is cited in Don Quixote as one of those that led the Ingenious Hidalgo on adventures. The truth is that the stories that are told in the “Book of the Knight Cifar” are many and very varied, it is a very entertaining work and worth reading.

The book contains a very entertaining, and at the same time critical, 48-page study of this work by Anthony J. Cárdenas-Rotunno and the complete text transcribed in Old Spanish, according to the Seville edition of Jacobo Cromberger of 1512.

Book bound in green cloth hard cover with gilt title, with illustrated dust jacket, 2 guide tapes, 15 x 23 cm format. 480 pages of bible paper.

Numbered edition limited to 1,000 copies.

The luxury facsimile publisher, Moleiro, published in 1996 a facsimile of this work according to the illuminated manuscript from the end of the 15th century that exists in the National Library of France. The book that we offer you in this article could well serve as a complement to said facsimile and also as a study book of said facsimile that also contains in current printing the transcription of the story of the work in old Spanish.

We, exclusively and while we have stocks, give a copy of this book to the buyer of the facsimile “The Book of Knight Zifar”.
