Copied and illuminated in 1534 for Albert of Brandenburg, bishop of Magdeburg and administrator of Halberstadt bishopric. Generous patron of letters and the arts, and sponsor of the German Humanism, released numerous artists, including Grünewald, Cranach and Glockendon.

43 splendid full-page miniatures made by the German master Nikolaus Glockendon, real pictures divided into two parts: in the center scenes from the life of Jesus and the Old Testament scenes margin.

In the miniatures of the prayer book’s influence Glockendon great contemporary masters such as Dürer, Grünewald and Holbein discovered.

The original is preserved in the prestigious Biblioteca Estense Universitaria, Modena (Italy). Document: 136 = α.U.6.7 Est..
