Cantigas de Santa María, by Alfonso X el Sabio, Florence manuscript. Conclusion or second part by the Edilán publishing house of the facsimile edition of the “rich” codex from El Escorial of the Cantigas de Santa María de Alfonso X el Sabio, late 13th century, made up of the reproduction, also in full facsimile, of ms. B.R.20 of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Florence (264 pages of 32 x 45 cm.), which is the immediate continuation, although unfinished, of that other one, with the same formal and material characteristics.

The Florence codex was never finished and was left unfinished. In it you can see the process of elaboration of the illuminations, being the ideal complement for the codex of El Escorial and, its possession, the complete work of this emblematic commission of Alfonso X el Sabio.

Facsimile edition of 1989, limited to 1,000 copies and numbered. The edition of the El Escorial codex was 2,000 copies, so only half of its buyers were able to choose to have both codices of the complete Cantigas.

Copies of the Florence manuscript are rarer to find on the secondary market. This issue is a way to get one of them since the edition has been sold out for years.

Facsimile bound in carved leather, ribbed and gilt spine, 33 x 46 cm. 264 pages, reproducing the entire Florence codex.

Complementary study book published in 1991, bound in leather spine, 33 x 46 cm. 208 pages with the transcription of the text and music of the Cantigas and the translation of the text into Spanish, as well as studies and comments of a historical-critical nature and an iconographic and stylistic analysis of its 530 miniatures, 88 drop caps and 103 borders, written by Ana Domínguez Rodríguez and Agustín Santiago Luque.

Open case-case with suede leather spine to match this edition with that of the El Escorial codex, since the one from Florence is somewhat smaller. Format 36 x 49.5 x 8.5 cm. In the cover, the editor attached space on one side for an LP record with songs by Alfonso X el Sabio.

This copy is in perfect condition, it is complete, including the LP record, and it is the only one we have available.
