For the text of Don Quixote has been based on the annotated edition of Martin de Riquer, offering the full text as the first editions, 1605 and for the first part of 1615 for the second. From it came the notes to the text.

In 1945 Salvador Dalí, attracted and fascinated by the personality of Don Quixote, he made 38 drawings and watercolors to illustrate the first part of Don Quixote, a number of valuable property Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation preserved in the Theatre-Museum Dalí.

These 38 illustrations, which added 5 preparatory drawings have been interleaved and the first part of Don Quixote and illuminate passages of the work in which Dalí was inspired.

The sheets with the illustrations are glued to hand them the logo of the Foundation Gala-Salvador Dalí appears that authenticates and copy number.

The work includes a book of studies specifically developed for this exclusive edition. In the first part of this book, Martin de Riquer delves into the complex world created by Cervantes and talks about Dalí’s relationship with Don Quixote. In the second part, Montse Aguer introduces us to Dalí illustrator and comments made illustrations for Don Quixote, to close with an illustrated biography of the painter.

The work is presented in a gold cloth wrapped and stamped in red and black protective case. In it lies the book with the text of Don Quixote and illustrations by Dali, and the bottom tray in a fume book studies. The book covers are lined in red velvet fabric with prints in gold and black. The superior print reproduces a detail of one of the drawings of Dalí Don Quixote; the lower Dali signature that appears in another of the book’s illustrations.

This literature jewel is the result of intensive research and perfectionism of professional experts. We used the most modern printing techniques (digital photography, stochastic screening, thermal plates next generation …) along with more traditional binding techniques and fabrication of the case (sheets glued by hand three-point line, manual sewing, numbering calligraphic …).
