The name of Johannes Kepler, spontaneously takes us to the memory of the three “Laws of the planetary movement”. And it is fair to celebrate this great discovery, the rest of his scientific work, although it is huge, is known much less.

Such is the case of his book “New stereometry of the barrels”: Kepler, observing how merchants measured the capacity of a wine barrel, using a simple rod, set out to find the geometric basis of that procedure.

But he did not find everything he wanted and he wrote a “Supplement to Archimedes”, inventing 90 new bodies of revolution, and also, for his study and cubification, he overcame the old “method of exhalation” so used by Archimedes and the Greek mathematicians, introducing Mathematics the concept of infinity and using the “minimal divisions” and their integration in the figures, anticipating the definite integral. His immediate followers Cavalieri and Fermat took over.
