Beautiful facsimile edition made by the publishing house Patrimonio Ediciones in 2005, of the original manuscript called “Rosario de Juana I de Castilla, or de Juana la Loca”, the original of which is currently distributed between The Cambridge Fitzwilliam Museum and The Boston Public Library.

Again, a facsimile edition restores the manuscript to its original composition by incorporating all of its folios currently kept at The Cambridge Fitzwilliam Museum and The Boston Public Library. Collectors’ desire for this masterpiece caused several of its folios to be separated from the original codex, now divided between U.S.A. and Europe.
This manuscript is made up of fifteen sentences referring to the fifteen mysteries of the Virgin accompanied by their respective miniatures alluding to her prayers exceptionally written in Spanish. The commission was made by the Queen of Castile, Juana la Loca, to the most prestigious Flemish painter and illuminator of the time, Simon Bening. Among his most famous clients were Emperor Charles V and Ferdinand, Infant of Portugal.
Facsimile bound in red velvet lined table with silver and embossed royal shield, and on both covers, closed by 2 red silk ribbon ties. Format 10 x 13.5 cm. 36 pages with 32 miniatures, 16 full-page, plus numerous initials illuminated with gold and silver by Bening.
Presented in a book-type box-case, rounded and ribbed spine, in wood lined in red velvet, with a royal shield and silver clasp.
