On March 19, 2017 the Kingdom of Spain commemorated the 205th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution of 1812 (officially promulgated as the Political Constitution of the Spanish Monarchy), better known as La Pepa. It was the first Spanish Constitution and the most extensive of those promulgated until today, and it meant a point of inflection between the absolutist monarchical regime and a new, more open, liberal and democratic monarchical regime. It was a failed dream for the good government of all the territories of Spain, both peninsular and overseas, African, American and Asian.
In 1822 the camera recorder of King Fernando VII, D. José María de Santiago, made this illustrated edition with multiple engravings, borders and complete pages, dedicated to the Cortes, and was one of the best editions of the 1812 Constitution. .
