Unanimously considered the most important cartographic project of the 17th century, it is also one of the most valuable and beautiful atlases in the history of Spain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The original 1634 codex is held in the Austrian National Library (Cod. Min. 46) and was commissioned by Philip IV from the Portuguese cosmographer Pedro Texeira. Its enormous importance is reflected in the fact that 90% of the locations depicted in it would not be reproduced in any other document until well into the 20th century.
