First edition of a magnificent and ancient work on the four products most consumed by humans since the beginning of the 16th century, at the time considered exotic and popularized in the 18th century. The author Antonio Lavedan, doctor and military surgeon and of the Spanish Royal Family, born in Valladolid, translator of medical works, proposed with this work to make known to the general public the botanical stories and the trade in products that many afternoons were consumed by men and women in significant quantities and with intense pleasure. He knew how to combine medical disclosure and erudition with a pleasant style. In the 21st century, the consumption of these considered “exciting” continues to be the most popular in the world.
Original book from 1796, bound in period Spanish paste, with a small cloth on the spine. Format 13 x 20.5 cm. 252 pages on good vintage laid paper, in large print, easy to read. A slight stain of water darkens the margins, without affecting the text, but in general a very good state of preservation for more than 225 years.
