Pierre Jules Theophile Gautier was a famous poet, playwright, novelist, journalist, literary critic and French photographer, born on August 30, 1811 and died on October 23, 1872. Despite being an ardent defender of Romanticism, his work has references Parnassianism (which he founded), symbolism and modernism.
