Description

1997 Edition of Espasa-Calpe from The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote de La Mancha, by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, illustrated by José Segrelles in color and with ink drawings within the text. Numbered edition limited to 3,000 copies.

This edition reproduces the one published by the publishing house in 1966 on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the death of Cervantes. On that occasion the illustrations of Segrelles were mounted on plates, and in this the illustrations are printed on the pages.

2 volumes, format 24.5 x 32 cm., Bound in simile red editorial leather with black prints and gold titles. 456 and 496 pages. Both books presented in an illustrated editorial box-case in cardboard, format 24 x 33.3 x 9.8 cm.

The box-case has a small slit in one corner, the books are in very good condition and impeccable interior (it seems that they have not been read).

The illustrations of Don Quixote by the great artist José Segrelles (1885-1969) in 1966 are some of the best done so far for this work of Universal Literature.
