This work corresponds to the Versol Bibliophile Club edition, rebound by Medieval Codex.
The Beatus codex of Ferdinand I and Doña Sancha, also called Facundo Blessed by the name of its author, it is preserved in the National Library of Spain with the Beatus of Liebana, In Apocalipsin, Codex Ferdinand I and Doña Sancha signature, Ms. Vitr. 14-2.
This manuscript was written around the middle of the eleventh century, according to the text of folio 316: Era V bis et quadragies post Millesima; ie in 1047. In the same folio we find the name of the copyist: Facundus scripsit, but not the miniaturist. We know the date of completion on the text, but not the illustrations, possibly completed a few years later. Neither appears no abbot or monastery, but the study suggests that the work could take place in one highly specialized, such as Sahagun. Given the importance of the work regia, it might be designed in well equipped media and architects one a “royal scriptorium” within the monastery itself, or very nearby: the Basilica of San Isidoro later. So it seems by the codicological study as scheduled paging and is constant and uniform throughout the work and participation of specialized equipment for its realization is clearly visible.
