The March 25, 1957 was signed in the Italian capital the Treaty of Rome establishing the European Economic Community, the seed of the European Union was established.

To commemorate this anniversary a coin of 12 Euros minted in silver was issued.

This coin, minted in silver of 925 thousandths, reproduces on the obverse the overlapping effigies of Their Majesties King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. The reverse image of a hand in the act of signing and in the background, a silhouette of the Colosseum, emblematic building of the city where the signing took place plays.

Coin weight: 18 gr. Diameter: 33 mm.
