Manuscripts, preserved in the Library of the Monastery of El Escorial, contain a representation of the world from biblical principles to the present half of the sixteenth century, from a chronological and historical perspective. Dedicated to King Philip II, they were performed on 1547 as a gift of Cardinal Otto Truchsess of Augsburg von Waldburg and delivered to Prince Philip on February 24, 1549, anniversary of the emperor, in the Augsburg Bishop’s Palace. 3 manuscripts, “high-cost, multi silver ornaments and magnificent illustrations and writings” were in a box to protect them and constitute a real gem of the German Renaissance.
