Description

First and only facsimile edition made with parchment of lamb from the French manuscript of the late twelfth century, Vie de Jésus Christ, whose original is preserved in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York, signature M. 44.

The manuscript M. 44 of the Pierpont Morgan Library gathers an exclusive and exquisite selection of miniatures in which the Life of Jesus Christ is told in images.

Facsimile edition carried out in 2006, limited to only 250 copies, numbered and authenticated nominally and notarially. Made with the difficult use of parchment, not pergamenata paper, and gold relief, which gives an extraordinary added value and fidelity to the original manuscript.

It belonged to Saint Martial de Limoges. Unique codex in its kind, only images of the life of Christ. Images similar to the oldest stained glass windows of the Cathedral of Chartres.

Facsimile bound in embossed leather on board, attached a small sculpture on its cover of one of his images. Format 23.7 x 35.3 cm. 20 pages of natural parchment, 40 pages, including 30 full-page images with gold leaf and gold relief.

Study book made by the holder of History of Art of the University of Valencia, D. Juan Vicente García Marsilla. Format 22.3 x 34.2 cm. 128 pages.

Both books are presented in a box-case format 28.5 x 41 x 9.5 cm.

Edition exhausted many years ago, the first one made in parchment Scriptorium publishing house and with which he began his exclusive editorial work in discarding the paper as a support for his works using lambskin.

Exemplary complete and in perfect condition.

The edition in parchment (not parchment paper, or pergamenata paper, but parchment of lamb), is extremely complex and unique, and makes each of its copies an original copy of the manuscript of the twelfth century. The use as a support for the parchment, natural organic element, as well as manual processes in each copy, including the flat and raised golds, according to the illuminations and as they are in the original codex, make each of the copies unique for themselves. Exclusive facsimiles handcrafted on parchment, recovering the beauty and authenticity of the ancient illuminated manuscripts. An excellence for the best libraries, collectors and bibliophiles, a joy for the senses that will last for centuries.
