Loose sheet in natural parchment with 2 pages from the facsimile edition of the Liébana Beatus codex of El Burgo de Osma from the 11th century. It is not imitation parchment parchment paper, but 100% natural parchment.
The codex of the Commentary on the Apocalypse of Beatus of Liébana, today preserved in the Diocesan Historical Archive of the Cathedral of El Burgo de Osma, is considered one of the most important Beatus of those currently known for several reasons: it is the first known Hispanic Romanesque Beatus , today a masterpiece of international Romanesque; one of the most creative with respect to traditional iconography; the Beato of El Burgo de Osma is one of the best preserved of Beato’s first two original creations.
Sheet with page 130v, open format 49.5 x 35.5 cm and with 2 illuminations, one of them full page. Back without illumination or lettering.
Being 100% natural lambskin parchment, its conservation is not the same as paper and its durability is several centuries.
