The codex of the Commentary on the Apocalypse of Beatus of Liébana, today preserved in the Diocesan Historical Archive of the Cathedral of El Burgo de Osma, is considered one of the most important Beatus of those currently known for several reasons: it is the first known Hispanic Romanesque Beatus , today a masterpiece of international Romanesque; one of the most creative with respect to traditional iconography; the Beato of El Burgo de Osma is one of the best preserved of Beato’s first two original creations.
We have 2 sheets with 2 pages each, back of the sheet blank, in full color. Sheet with page 88v, open format 49.5 x 36 cm and full page lighting. Sheet with page 130v, open format 49.5 x 35.5 cm and with 2 illuminations, one of them full page.
Being 100% natural lambskin parchment, its conservation is not the same as paper and its durability is several centuries.
