Flora Peruviana et Chilensis. Extraordinary facsimile edition carried out in 1995 on botanical trips to the kingdoms of Peru and Chile (1777-1788), paradigm of the illustrated expedition and the first one presented with exclusively botanical objectives. They were directors of the expedition Hipólito Ruiz and José Pavón, and as cartoonists José Brunete and Isidro Gálvez. The group was joined by the French botanist Joseph Dombey and in 1785 the cartoonist Francisco Pulgar and the botanist José Tafalla joined it.
The 3 volumes that were published of the expedition were in 1798, 1799 and 1802, whose originals are conserved in the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid.
This limited edition is the only existing facsimile of this work. The excellent edition and printing of the texts by Sancha and the quality of the engravings and their illumination, make these volumes one of the most beautiful works of the Spanish and world bibliography.
From this extraordinary edition, 701 copies have been made, 500 of them bound in Dutch loin and corners of imitation leather and the remainder in paper (which corresponds to the copy that we offer) and 201 copies bound in dry engraved leather (also available, ask us if you are interested in this version), sheets of paper in excellent verigure of Fredigoni of 140 gr and made especially for this edition.
