Description

The Malaga of the Beginning of the Century (XX), by Manuel Blasco Alarcón (1899-1992). Precious book-album published by the Diputación de Málaga in 1973. First edition. Texts in Spanish.

Prelude: critical judgment on the painting of Manuel Blasco, by Enrique Lafuente Ferrari, Academic of Fine Arts. Prologue and comments by Julio Caro Baroja, Academic of History. Author’s prologue: review and background of living in Malaga at the beginning of the century.

The author, in the texts and paintings reproduced in this work, shows us his visual and literary memories of life in Malaga at the beginning of the 20th century: Calle de Larios, Los Verdiales, Los Montes de Málaga, the Café de Chinitas, Paseo de la Alameda, Playa de la Malagueta, Calle Camas…, and so on for a total of 29 paintings.

Book-album binding with detachable sheets and plates, in dark red editorial leather with gold stamping, landscape 45 x 33 cm. 142 pages including 29 color plates that can be framed.

Text paper slightly shows signs of the passage of time, white laminated paper and in perfect condition, since it was printed on another type of paper that has survived the passage of these 50 years much better.

After this edition, two more book-albums were published with different plates, following the same pattern as in this first book-album, which were also reissued by local and national banking entities and with variations in the color of the bindings.
