Loose sheet in natural parchment with 2 pages from the facsimile edition of the Chronicles of the Jerusalem Crusades, from the 15th century. It is not imitation parchment parchment paper, but 100% natural parchment.
Les Chroniques de Jérusalem abrégées, siècle XV (in Spanish “The Abbreviated Chronicles of Jerusalem”, or also “The Chronicles of the Crusaders”), is a beautiful illuminated codex of the most exquisite Flemish art. Made by order of Philip III, Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, around 1455 in Bruges in David Aubert’s workshop, it was created in roll form, and later guillotined and bound in landscape format.
We have a single sheet with 2 pages, the back of the sheet is blank, in full color and with its golds. Sheet with page 18v, open format 54 x 56 cm. It has a small hole concealed by the color due to the very nature of the parchment.
Being 100% natural lambskin parchment, its conservation is not the same as paper and its durability is several centuries.
